PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 29 -- Rising water levels in the Ganga and Yamuna have revived concerns of another spell of flooding in Sangam City, even as the monsoon season nears its withdrawal. On Monday, the Ganga reached the threshold of the Lete Hanuman Temple near the embankment, raising the possibility of another Maha-Snan of the deity. According to the Flood Control Room, the Yamuna at Naini rose by 163 cm in 24 hours till 8.30 am on Monday, reaching 80.16 metres. The Ganga at Chatnag also rose by 163 cm to 79.68 metres, while at Phaphamau it increased by 33 cm to 79.62 metres. Between 8.30 am and 4 pm, the Yamuna rose another 26 cm and the Ganga at Chatnag by 38 cm. Water levels in the Ken, Betwa and Tons rivers were also rising. Around 2,16,768 cusecs of water released into the Ganga from Kanpur is expected to reach Prayagraj in about three days. The danger mark for both the Ganga and the Yamuna in Prayagraj is 84.734 metres....
