Rishi, Miraya walk away with two titles each in AITA Super Series
LUCKNOW, Oct. 18 -- Local challengers Rishi Yadav and Miraya Agarwal produced strong performances at the AITA Super Series Under-18 Tennis Tournament, winning golden doubles here on Friday.
In the girls' singles final, seventh-seeded Miraya defeated Karnataka's Aadya Chaurasia in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Miraya won the first set easily and maintained her lead in the second set with precise strategy. Miraya also won the girls' doubles title with Delhi's Manvi Rathi.
Third seed Rishi defeated compatriot and eighth seed Sanidhya Dwivedi 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(4) to claim the boys singles title. Later he bagged the doubles title too. While pairing with Sanidhya he defeated the duo of Anuj Kumar and Anuruddha Kumar by 6-3, 6-4.
Spirited Lucknow defeated Varanasi 2-1 to win the Senior Men's State Football Championship at Ayodhya on Friday.
It was ding dong battle between the two sides as even after trailing by a solitary goal, Lucknow staged a comeback to win.
Asif put Varanasi ahead with a goal from the right side in the 18th minute (1-0).
However, this didn't dampen the spirit of Lucknow men, who kept trying hard for an equalizer. Divyanshu Verma got his first goal in the 55th before netting the all-important goal in the 70th minutes....
