Revenue lekhpal arrested for accepting Rs.10,000 bribe in Ayodhya
LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Corruption Organisation arrested a revenue lekhpal on Thursday for allegedly accepting a Rs.10,000 bribe from a resident of Ayodhya in exchange for measuring agricultural land and facilitating possession, officials said.
The trap operation was conducted by the Ayodhya unit of the Anti-Corruption Organisation at the panchayat building in Para Kail village under Masodha development block.
The accused was identified as Utkarsh Deep, a resident of Sahjaura village in Ayodhya district. He was allegedly caught accepting Rs.10,000 from Amit Kumar Dubey, a resident of Para Kail village under Purakalandar police station.
According to officials, Dubey had approached the Anti-Corruption Organisation with a complaint alleging that the revenue lekhpal had demanded illegal gratification for measuring his agricultural land and helping him obtain possession.
Acting on the complaint, the Ayodhya unit laid a trap and allegedly caught Utkarsh Deep accepting the bribe. The accused was taken into custody and legal proceedings were initiated against him, officials said....
