Rampur's Raza Library to provide 17th C Persian manuscripts of Ramayan
Ayodhya, March 24 -- Rampur's Raza Library will provide 17th Century manuscripts of Ramayan written in Persian to Ayodhya's international Ram Katha museum. The rare manuscripts are a Persian translation of the Ramayana by Mullah Masih Panipati from 1627, during Mughal emperor Jahangir's reign.
Another notable piece is 'Kissa-e-Ram Sita' by Ahmed Khan Gaflat, written in 1825.
Known for housing 17,000 rare manuscripts in various languages and 83,000 printed books, Raza Library has in its treasure the 13 Ramayana manuscripts and eight books each dating back hundreds of years.
According to information provided by Syed Tariq Azhar, in charge of the library's museum, "a true gem in the collection is the 'Valmiki Ramayan', uniquely illustrated and translated into Persian by Sumer Chand in 1715 during the times of Mughal emperor Farrukh Siyar."
Preparations for collaboration on historical manuscripts between the Raza Library and International Ram Katha Museum have begun. A major initiative is taking shape in the direction of preserving the heritage linked to the life of Lord Rama in Ayodhya.
Director of Raza Library, Pushkar Mishra, met with the coordinator of Ayodhya's international Ramkatha Museum, Sanjeev Kumar on Monday, and put forward several important proposals.
