PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 19 -- Continuous rain worsened waterlogging at Rambagh railway station on Tuesday, forcing the railways to suspend train operations from platforms 1 to 4 and shift passenger and MEMU services bound for Varanasi to Jhunsi station from the afternoon. Only the Vibhuti Express was operated from Rambagh during the day. The train, scheduled to reach Prayagraj around noon, arrived at about 3.15pm after a delay of nearly three hours. It was received at platform 5 instead of platform 1 and eventually departed Rambagh at around 5.30pm. Passenger and MEMU trains heading towards Varanasi were operated from Jhunsi from the afternoon until night. Railway officials repeatedly made announcements at Rambagh informing passengers about the change in the point of departure. Passengers had to travel to Jhunsi to board their trains, causing considerable inconvenience. Train operations at Rambagh have remained affected since Monday due to waterlogging, with the situation worsening on Tuesday as the water level rose further.
