Lucknow, Nov. 8 -- Governor Anandiben Patel on Saturday said Lord Ram is the soul of India and the basis of the nation's national consciousness, underlining that his ideals are the foundation of Indian culture, national consciousness and good governance. Addressing the Deepotsav-2026 celebrations at Ram Ki Paidi in Ayodhya, the governor said Lord Ram's life teaches that duty is greater than power, responsibility is greater than rights, and character is greater than grandeur. "Ram Rajya will be realised only when the poor get respect in society, the deprived get opportunity, women get safety, youth get employment and every citizen gets justice. The aim of governance should be to deliver happiness, security and honour to the person standing in the last line," she said. Referring to Deepotsav, the governor said Ayodhya is today illuminated with the light of devotion, faith and spiritual consciousness. "The birthplace of Lord Ram, Ayodhya, is the unwavering faith of crores of people, the soul of Indian culture and the living centre of Sanatan consciousness. Every particle of the soil here carries the spirit of Ram," she said. "Shri Ram is not only a deity to be worshipped, but the basis of India's social and cultural unity," she said....
