Ram Navami: Traffic curbs imposed on Lucknow-Ayodhya route
LUCKNOW, March 25 -- The Lucknow Traffic Police has imposed restrictions on heavy vehicles on the Lucknow-Ayodhya route to manage the rush during the Chaitra Ram Navami Mela, officials said on Tuesday. The curbs will remain in place from 2 pm on March 24 to midnight of March 27. During this period, trucks, DCMs, tractors and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed to move towards Barabanki and Ayodhya on this route.
DCP (Traffic) Raveena Tyagi said the annual fair, being held from March 19 to March 27, attracts a large number of devotees. Special traffic arrangements have been made to ensure smooth and safe movement.
As per the diversion plan, heavy vehicles coming from Sitapur Road will be diverted via Indira Canal Road underpass to Kisan Path and then towards Sultanpur Road (Chandsarai), before joining the Purvanchal Expressway.
Vehicles from Hardoi Road will be rerouted through Bajpur underpass to Kisan Path and then to the expressway. Those coming from the Agra Expressway will be channelled via Khushhalganj underpass to Kisan Path.
Heavy vehicles approaching from Kanpur Road will be diverted via Mohanlalganj, Bachhrawan and Haidergarh to join the Purvanchal Expressway. Officials said the diversions aim to reduce congestion on the Lucknow-Ayodhya route and ensure smooth travel for pilgrims.
Essential services such as ambulances, school vehicles, fire tenders and hearses will be allowed in case of emergencies, with permission from traffic or local police.
