Lucknow, Aug. 28 -- Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh met chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday to discuss pressing developmental issues and public grievances affecting the Lucknow region. The meeting focused on accelerating critical infrastructure projects and resolving civic challenges that impact daily life. Singh also handed over a letter to him enumerating his concerns. Singh raised concerns over persistent water-logging, clogged drains, and deteriorating road conditions in several parts of Lucknow, especially during the monsoon season. In his letter, Singh pointed out that despite spending crores annually on road repairs, drain cleaning, and drainage upgrades, the city continues to face severe water-logging, traffic jams, and public health risks during even moderate rainfall. He urged the chief minister to conduct a comprehensive review of the functioning of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation and the urban development department and to initiate prompt remedial measures. He noted that areas such as Alambagh, Rajajipuram, Charbagh, Indiranagar, Gomti Nagar Extension, Hazratganj, and Sarojini Nagar face annual water-logging, highlighting a breakdown of sort in long-term planning. A key highlight of the discussion was the Lucknow-Kanpur Elevated Highway, a major infrastructure project that has seen delays and public inconvenience. Singh stressed the urgent need to speed up construction work and provide immediate relief to residents facing difficulties due to the ongoing project. He also reiterated the importance of the state capital region (SCR) initiative and requested that the CM convene an SCR Board meeting to fast-track coordinated development across Lucknow and adjoining districts....
