Rain-soaked Lko: Temp drops 6.3degC below normal
LUCKNOW, Nov. 1 -- For the second consecutive day, Lucknow woke up to a heavily overcast sky and rain on Saturday. The state capital received 11 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, with showers continuing throughout the day. The maximum temperature was 25.1degC, which is 6.3 degrees below normal, and the minimum was 20.5degC.
Signs of clearing weather following widespread rainfall across the state, driven by the remnants of cyclonic storm 'Arnab', said Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at regional meteorological centre, Lucknow. As the weather clears, maximum daytime temperatures are expected to rise by 4-6degC, while minimum nighttime temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4degC over the next 3-4 days. Additionally, light to moderate fog may occur in some areas during the morning hours, which will dissipate quickly as the day progresses.
The Sunday forecast for Lucknow predicts generally cloudy skies, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to hover around 29degC and 20degC, respectively. The state forecast indicates very light to light rain likely at isolated places over East UP, with mainly dry weather elsewhere and shallow to moderate fog during the morning hours in isolated pockets.
East UP (14.6 mm) experienced more rainfall than West UP (1.3 mm) under the influence of Cyclone Arnab in the 24 hours leading up to 8:30 am on Saturday. Overall, UP recorded 9.2 mm of rain during this period, according to IMD data....
