Railways launch special trains and help desks for NEET re-examination candidates
Lucknow, June 21 -- The North Eastern Railway (NER) and Northern Railway (NR) have announced special train services and passenger assistance measures to facilitate travel for students appearing in the NEET re-examination on June 21.
To manage the expected rush of candidates, the railways will operate seven special unreserved trains connecting major cities across Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states.
The Lucknow division of NER will run two pairs of examination special trains between Gorakhpur and Lucknow, while the Lucknow division of NR will operate special services linking Lucknow with Varanasi and Prayagraj.
A special train between Varanasi and Patna has also been arranged to help students return home after the examination.
According to railway officials, train number 04206 will depart from Lucknow for Varanasi via Ayodhya Cantonment at 5.55 pm with 11 unreserved coaches.
Train number 04202 will leave Lucknow for Prayagraj Sangam via Rae Bareli and Unchahar at 5.45 pm with 14 unreserved coaches.
Another special service, train number 04208, will run from Varanasi Junction to Patna Junction via Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction at 5.45 pm with 12 unreserved coaches.
Help desks have been set up at major stations, including Gorakhpur, Lucknow Junction, Aishbagh Junction, Gomtinagar and Gonda, to provide information and assistance to candidates and passengers.
Additional commercial and security staff have also been deployed to manage crowds and ensure smooth movement at stations.
Railway officials said continuous announcements regarding special train services will be made through public address systems.
Ticketing facilities have been strengthened through additional booking counters and Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs).
The railways have also coordinated with the Railway Protection Force (RPF),
Government Railway Police (GRP) and local administration to maintain law and order during the examination period.
A 24-hour monitoring system has been activated at the Lucknow divisional control room, with senior officers deployed in shifts to oversee operations.
Passengers have been advised to check train schedules through the NTES app, railway helpline 139 or the nearest railway station before starting their journey....
