PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 16 -- The Uttar Pradesh education directorate has flagged serious irregularities in vacancy data submitted by districts for teaching and principal posts in government-aided secondary schools, after finding that mandatory reservation norms were not followed. District inspectors of schools (DIoSs) from all 75 districts had submitted details of 23,213 vacant posts of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs), and principals. However, the data did not comply with the prescribed reservation roster, prompting the directorate to seek revised and error-free information, said deputy director of education (secondary-2) Brajesh Mishra. The vacancies pertain to 4,512 government-aided secondary schools across the state. Mishra has directed all DIoSs to resubmit the information strictly in the prescribed format, after recalculating reservations as per the roster system outlined in the government order dated August 13, 2019. The roster was amended that year following the introduction of the economically weaker sections (EWS) category. District authorities have now been instructed to submit corrected vacancy details by January 16-17, ensuring full compliance with reservation policies, Mishra said. Recruitment of teachers and principals in government-aided secondary schools is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission. Officials said an online portal is being developed to send requisitions to the commission for initiating the recruitment process. In 2022, applications were invited for 4,163 vacant TGT and PGT posts, but the examination has yet to be conducted. Aspirants are now awaiting a fresh recruitment drive, especially as such a large number of vacancies has never been announced before....
