PWD proposes 883 new roads and 128 bridges to boost connectivity
Prayagraj, June 22 -- The Public Works Department (PWD) has prepared an extensive infrastructure development plan to improve connectivity across Prayagraj district. The proposal includes the construction of 883 new roads and 128 small bridges and culverts during the current financial year.
According to PWD officials, the proposed roads will cover a total length of 1,364.96 kilometres and will require an estimated investment of more than Rs.1,066 crore. The department has also planned the widening and strengthening of 30 existing roads spanning over 387 kilometres at a cost of more than Rs.1,329 crore.
In addition, 128 small bridges and culverts have been proposed over rivers, drains and canals. The project, estimated at around Rs.4,500 crore, includes both the replacement of dilapidated structures and the construction of new bridges at locations facing connectivity issues.
PWD superintending engineer Naresh Kumar said the action plan aims to strengthen transport infrastructure in all assembly constituencies of the district. The proposals will be presented to chief minister Yogi Adityanath later this month for approval.
