Pump operator dies from electrocution while cleaning water tank
LUCKNOW, June 15 -- A 25-year-old pump operator deployed at King George's Medical University (KGMU) died after allegedly suffering an electric shock while cleaning a water tank on duty on Sunday, police said.
The deceased, Rahul Gautam, a resident of Leelakheda village in Dubagga, was working under a private agency, Govind Fire Services, which provides services at KGMU. According to police, Gautam came in contact with an electrical source while carrying out cleaning work inside KGMU campus. He was rushed to KGMU Trauma Centre but died during treatment.
Following incident, Chowk police reached the spot and initiated legal formalities. The body was sent for post-mortem after inquest proceedings.
The death sparked protests by some employees and co-workers, who alleged negligence and demanded action against those responsible. Police personnel later pacified the protesters and maintained order.
"The matter is being investigated from all angles. Further action will be taken based on the facts and evidence that emerge during the probe," a police spokesperson said. Officials said the exact circumstances leading to the electrocution are being examined. htc...
