KANPUR, June 2 -- A large number of family members and supporters of social media influencer Manasi on Monday took out a protest in Babupurwa, Kanpur, seeking justice after she was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Lucknow. The family dismissed allegations of suicide and claimed that Manasi was murdered for dowry. Her sister, Priyanka Varma, alleged that Manasi's husband, Sagar Rajput, and his family had been harassing her and later killed her, passing off the incident as a suicide. "She was under tremendous pressure to bring a Fortuner or a Scorpio from her parental home. There were puncture marks on her legs and hands, and she was smothered with a pillow," Varma alleged while showing photographs of the body stored on her mobile phone. She further claimed that Manasi had been subjected to severe domestic abuse since her marriage, despite the family having met several of the accused's financial demands. She demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the death and sought a review of the post-mortem report by a medical board. "They have portrayed a cold-blooded murder as a suicide.
