PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 14 -- Prof Satyakam has resigned as vice-chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), with Lok Bhavan accepting his resignation on Thursday. Following his resignation, Prof Akhilesh Kumar, vice-chancellor of Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University, has been given the additional charge of UPRTOU vice-chancellor. He will discharge the responsibilities of the post until a regular appointment is made or further orders are issued. Noted academician and Hindi critic Prof Satyakam cited personal, family and health-related reasons for his decision to step down. He had submitted his resignation to Lok Bhavan on June 12, which was formally accepted on Thursday. Prof Satyakam assumed charge as UPRTOU vice-chancellor on June 7, 2024. Before joining the open university, he was a professor at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
