Probe sought into ad hoc doctor's role after woman dies at KGMU
LUCKNOW, June 21 -- A resident of Ambedkar Nagar has lodged a complaint at Wazirganj police station seeking registration of an FIR against a doctor and a private hospital. He alleged negligence, extortion and a wrong blood transfusion in the treatment of his wife, who died at KGMU's Trauma Centre on June 20 after allegedly being referred from the medical university to a private facility.
Complainant Vinay Dubey alleged that his wife, Kamlesh Devi, was admitted to King George's Medical University (KGMU) on June 6.
He claimed that a doctor appointed on an ad hoc basis at KGMU assured the family of better treatment and facilitated her admission to a private hospital in Krishna Nagar, where around Rs.45,000 was allegedly charged, including an online payment of Rs.11,000.

Dubey alleged that when her condition deteriorated, she was referred back to KGMU, where she died at the Trauma Centre on June 20.
Seeking registration of an FIR against the doctor and the private hospital management, Dubey demanded an impartial probe into the referral treatment and blood transfusion.
Police said the complaint is being investigated and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
Responding to the allegations, KGMU spokesperson Prof K.K. Singh said no negligence occurred in the patient's treatment at the medical university and that all necessary medical care was provided. He said the doctor concerned, who was appointed on an ad hoc basis, has since been transferred to another hospital by the state government.
"If any wrongdoing is established during the inquiry, strict action will be taken against him," Singh said....
