Probe ordered after constable's video alleging illegal collections goes viral
Lucknow, May 8 -- A viral video released by a constable posted at the Reserve Police Lines of the Lucknow Police Commissionerate alleging illegal collections within the department has led to a probe. Constable Sunil Kumar Shukla, in a video circulating online on Thursday, alleged that policemen were being made to pay money every month in exchange for deployment on duty at the Reserve Police Lines. HT could not independently verify the claims made in the video.
Shukla alleged that around Rs 2,000 was collected every month from constables and head constables posted on guard duty.
He also appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for an independent inquiry into the matter.
ACP Lines Shipra Pandey said a committee had been formed to investigate the allegations and the ADCP, Police Lines, was asked to conduct the inquiry. She added that the constable was currently on 20 days' leave.htc...
