LUCKNOW, June 4 -- Transport department on Wednesday seized a private bus painted in the official colours of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) following complaints about unauthorised vehicles operating in the city while resembling government-run buses. The action occurred during a joint enforcement drive conducted by teams from the ARTO (enforcement) office, the assistant regional manager's office in Charbagh, and the assistant regional manager (suburban), Haidergarh. They found it was painted in the UPSRTC colour scheme despite not being an authorised corporation vehicle. After verification, the vehicle was found to be operating illegally in the government colour pattern and was immediately seized. Officials shifted the bus to the Alambagh bus station premises, where it is being kept in safe custody. ARTO (Enforcement) Alok Yadav said the department would continue its enforcement drive against vehicles violating transport regulations and attempting to pass themselves off as authorised UPSRTC buses. "Our priority is to ensure passenger safety and prevent revenue losses. Similar action will continue against illegal vehicles found operating in violation of norms," Yadav said. Officials said the enforcement drive is not limited to unauthorised buses alone. Action is also being taken against vehicles operating without High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), and buses found unfit during inspections are being penalised according to transport regulations....
