PRAYAGRAJ, July 17 -- : An eight-month pregnant woman sustained critical burn injuries after allegedly setting herself ablaze at her home in Khatwara village under the Jethwara police station area of Pratapgarh on Thursday afternoon. She was initially taken to the Lalganj Trauma Centre and later referred to the Medical College for advanced treatment. According to local sources, Muskan Verma (20) had been living with Rahul Verma, a resident of Khatwara village in the Derva area. Rahul had reportedly separated from his wife. Family members said that after preparing lunch on Thursday, Muskan went to her room where diesel was kept for a pump-set engine. She allegedly poured the fuel over herself and set herself ablaze in an apparent attempt to end her life. Police said further action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the inquiry.
