PRAYAGRAJ, June 15 -- Residents of Raniganj Nagar Panchayat in Pratapgarh district, long awaiting tap water supply, are set to get relief with the construction of three overhead water tanks under the Urban Jal Jeevan Mission at a cost of Rs.33 crore. The project, approved by the state government, is expected to benefit nearly 20,000 residents and ensure the supply of 2.65 million litres of safe drinking water every day, officials said. The initiative comes against the backdrop of declining groundwater levels that have aggravated the drinking water crisis in several parts of Pratapgarh, particularly in areas adjoining the district headquarters. Amit Raj, executive engineer, Urban Jal Jeevan Mission, Prayagraj, said land for all three overhead tanks has already been identified and the project is targeted for completion by March next year, following which water supply will begin....
