New Delhi, July 26 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday accepted the resignation of union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan who stepped down from his position following widespread protest over paper leaks. Union minister Pralhad Joshi was given additional charge of his portfolio. In a communique, Rashtrapati Bhavan said, " The president as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution of India." The communique said, as advised by the PM, the President has directed that Pralhad Joshi, who handles the portfolio of consumer affairs, food and public distribution and new and renewable energy, has been assigned the charge of the ministry of education, in addition to his existing portfolio. Joshi, a five-term lawmaker from Karnataka, represents Dharwad in the Lok Sabha. He has been part of the Union cabinet since 2019. He served as Parliamentary Affairs minister, and also had the portfolio of coal and Mines. He is also rooted in RSS ideology. Speaking to the media, Joshi said, "...In the last four to five years, Dharmendra Pradhan also implemented the NEP, and several important initiatives were undertaken. The country has made significant progress in the new education system. Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, I will work to the best of my ability and fulfil my responsibilities with dedication."...
