LUCKNOW, Aug. 10 -- A brace by Prabho helped Tektro Reserve march into semi-finals of the District Football League-2026, outplaying favourites Sports College 2-0, at the Chowk Stadium here on Sunday. The forward Prabho struck early in the 15th minute, finishing a well-worked move to give Tektro the lead, and doubled the advantage just before half-time with a clinical effort in the 45th minute. Tektro Reserve's defence remained disciplined throughout, soaking up late pressure to preserve a clean sheet. The second match produced an immediate spark as Falcon Club secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Ex-Students Men's United Club. Javed turned the game on its head almost from kick-off, slotting home in the third minute and forcing Ex-Students to chase the remainder of the match. Falcon's organisation and game management prevented their opponents from finding an equaliser, while their counter-attacks threatened on several occasions. On Monday, in the first sem-final, Tektro Reserve take on Tektro Club at 4:00 PM. Players from Uttar Pradesh, who brought glory to the state by winning the gold medal at the 46th National Sub-Junior Boys' (Under-16) Volleyball Championship, were felicitated here on Sunday. Uttar Pradesh Volleyball Association's president, Brajesh Pathak felicitated the players during ND Sharma Sports Award Ceremony and the general body meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Volleyball Association. In his address, UP's Deputy CM, Brajesh Pathak remarked that volleyball is a sport rooted in rural backgrounds; therefore, there is a need to bring more and more players from villages into the sporting mainstream. He stated that the Uttar Pradesh Volleyball Association would initiate a drive to provide volleyballs and nets to all villages across the state. "This initiative will begin with villages that have produced players who brought honor to the state by competing at national and international levels," he said.
