Lucknow, May 28 -- Amid severe heatwave conditions across Uttar Pradesh, with temperatures in several districts touching nearly 47 degrees Celsius, the Yogi Adityanath government has stepped up efforts to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and claimed to have supplied power beyond the scheduled roster to meet rising demand, officials claimed. The power system, officials said, remained stable despite soaring temperatures and increased consumption, with a record electricity supply of 30,337 MW achieved at 2.37am on the night of May 26-27. Earlier on May 26, the state had supplied 28,125 MW of electricity. Officials said the state was maintaining round-the-clock power supply in district headquarters, metropolitan cities and tehsil areas, while rural regions are receiving electricity for 22 to 22.5 hours daily. Power demand remained high throughout the day. Electricity supply stood at 28,125 MW at 7.52pm on May 26, 27,515 MW at 10pm and 26,984 MW at midnight. On May 27, supply figures were 29,321 MW at 5 am, 24,738MW at 7am, 26,604 MW at 10am and 28,048 MW at noon. The state further supplied 28,488 MW at 1pm and 28,790 MW at 2pm. UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL)director (Distribution) Gyanendra Dhar Dwivedi said departmental teams were working round the clock to ensure uninterrupted supply. He said rural areas were receiving electricity beyond the scheduled roster and field teams were continuously monitoring and restoring services. He added that storms and thunderstorms on May 25 and 26 had damaged electricity infrastructure in some districts, but restoration work was undertaken on a war footing following directions from the chief minister....
