PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 26 -- A team of the electricity department was allegedly attacked in Kalindipuram after officials detected power theft at a builder's residence. The incident occurred when staff went to install a smart meter at the house of Farhan Ahmed on Tuesday evening, police said on Wednesday. According to the FIR lodged at Dhoomanganj police station, sub-divisional officer (SDO) Sandeep Singh and junior engineer (JE) Pramod Kumar from the Kasari Masari substation, along with their team, reached the site for installation. The builder allegedly refused to allow the meter to be fitted. During inspection, officials found electricity was being drawn by bypassing the existing meter and warned that the connection would be disconnected.
