LUCKNOW, June 17 -- Frequent power outages, technical faults and infrastructure theft disrupted electricity supply across several parts of Lucknow and adjoining rural areas over the past two days, affecting thousands of consumers during peak summer demand. Residents of Gomti Nagar's Vipul Khand, Tiwariganj, Faizullaganj, Rajajipuram, Ashiana, Aminabad, Latouche Road, Indira Nagar and Jankipuram reported prolonged blackouts. Supply also remained suspended in areas linked to the GTI substation, including Charbagh, and Mawaiya, due to maintenance work. In rural areas under the Baragaon feeder of the FCI substation, electricity to Rewari, Indrawar, Gehlwara and Adampur villages remained disrupted for many hours after thieves allegedly stole overhead power conductors. The prolonged blackout also affected operations at a toll plaza on the Agra-Lko Expressway, which had to run on diesel generators.
