Postal dept to organise 120 Aadhaar camps across Lucknow HQs
LUCKNOW, July 28 -- The department of posts will organise 120 special Aadhaar enrolment and update camps across the Lucknow Headquarters Circle during August to provide Aadhaar-related services closer to people's homes, particularly in rural areas.
Postmaster general, headquarters circle, Sunil Kumar Rai, said the camps will be held at sub-post offices, branch post offices, panchayat buildings, schools and other public places to ensure maximum outreach.
According to the department, 25-day camps will be organised at nine locations in Rae Bareli division, three-day camps at three locations under Lucknow GPO, 24-day camps at eight locations in Lucknow division, 22-day camps at four locations in Ayodhya division, 24-day camps at four locations in Barabanki division and 22-day camps at four locations in Sitapur division. The camps will provide new Aadhaar enrolment for eligible individuals, updates to demographic details such as name, address and date of birth, mobile number and email ID updates, biometric updates including photographs, fingerprints and iris scans, and mandatory biometric updates for children who have attained the ages of five and 15 years.
Rai said the initiative aims to make Aadhaar services more accessible to people who are unable to visit enrolment centres because of distance, work commitments or travel costs.
"Many people, especially in rural areas, are unable to leave their work or bear the travel expenses to visit Aadhaar service centres. These camps have been planned to ensure they can access Aadhaar services in their villages and nearby locations."...
