Post-Delhi blaze audit revealslapses in seven city restaurants
LUCKNOW, June 4 -- Following the Delhi fire that claimed 21 lives, the Lucknow fire department conducted a fire safety audit of eight prominent restaurants in the Hazratganj and Aminabad areas on Wednesday, finding violations at seven of them.
The establishments are among the city's most popular dining destinations and attract heavy footfall daily.
A team led by Ram Kumar Rawat, fire station officer, Hazratganj, conducted the inspection on the chief fire officer's direction.
"Out of the eight eateries inspected, seven were found to be flouting fire safety norms," Rawat told HT. He said notices detailing the deficiencies would be issued separately to the managements concerned, directing them to take corrective measures.
During the inspection, officials examined the availability and condition of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, evacuation routes and other fire safety arrangements.
Fire department officials said inspections would continue at other establishments across the city to ensure compliance with prescribed safety norms and reduce the risk of fire-related incidents. HTC...
