Chennai, Sept. 18 -- The Tamil Nadu police have identified the minor victim seen in an alleged sexual abuse video involving R Veeramani, 84, chairman of the Gem Group of Companies, who was arrested in August under the Pocso Act, police said on Thursday. The victim's statement was recorded earlier this week and submitted to a judicial magistrate, said a police officer on condition of anonymity. HT reached out to the promoters of GEM Group of Companies and their legal team but received no response. Veeramani, a prominent Tamil Nadu businessman who headed various industry panels, including the Natural Stones and Products Panel of the ministry of commerce, was arrested along with two of his aides by the central crime branch's (CCB) anti-vice squad for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl, police said. "It emerged that numerous girls were brought to the house where sexual crimes were committed and video evidence of one such crime involving a girl was seized," police had said.
