Police dept lays out roadmap for this yr
Dehradun, Jan. 4 -- The state police department has decided to give special focus on cybersecurity, internal security and making Uttarakhand drug-free in 2026, as a high-level review meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth finalised the police roadmap for the year.
The meeting was held at Sardar Patel Bhawan in Dehradun and was attended by senior officers of the Police Headquarters. Senior officials said discussions were held on efficiency, transparency and time-bound work across all branches of the police department.
"In line with the directions issued by Union home minister Amit Shah during the Anti-Terror Conference-2025, cyber surveillance and cyber intelligence be given priority from the point of view of internal security," the DGP said.
The meeting focused on the restructuring of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the Traffic Directorate. The state police chief said steps would be taken in line with national guidelines on uniformity in the ATS structure.
"To achieve the chief minister's goal of a drug-free Uttarakhand, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) will be strengthened during the year," Seth said. Officials said a meeting of senior police officers under the chairmanship of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami would be held soon to review the agenda points of the DGP-IGP Conference-2025 and finalise future strategies.
The DGP directed that the 1930 cyber crime helpline be strengthened and better linked with the 112 emergency response system for quicker handling of complaints. He said, "All headquarters-level officers have been directed to submit time-bound action plans." The DGP also directed that budget, procurement and financial matters be cleared before the end of the financial year on March 31.
The DGP directed early clearance of pending files and proposals at headquarters and government levels. He said a time-bound decision process should be followed, in line with the chief minister's vision of "Simplification, Resolution and Disposal", with use of the e-office and e-file system. The DGP directed officials to follow up at the government level for setting up a Centre of Excellence at Police Training Centre (PTC), Narendra Nagar (Tehri Garhwal) for specialised police training.
All units were directed to ensure timely filing of annual confidential reports (ACRs) so that personnel receive benefits related to welfare, promotions, medals and commendations on time. The DGP said the Uttarakhand Police song should be promoted and further directed that it should be played at police events, parades, passing-out ceremonies, training programmes and official functions.
