Police attach Rs.1 crore Lko property in Rs.30 cr share market fraud
Lucknow, July 30 -- A residential Lucknow property worth nearly Rs.1 crore of the prime accused in an alleged Rs.30 crore share market investment fraud, was attached by the Sant Kabir Nagar police on Wednesday. They have moved the court to seize more assets linked to the case.
Police claimed the attachment marks the first cyber crime case in Uttar Pradesh in which proceeds of crime have been attached during the course of investigation. The action was taken under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) during the investigation of a case registered at Mahuli police station, Sant Kabir Nagar district.
The complaint was filed by Hatwa village resident Santalal Maurya on October 18, 2024. Maurya alleged that Dhananjay Shukla and Rajni Prajapati, who operated TVS Solution Co, collected Rs.51 lakh from him after assuring substantial profits through stock market investments before disappearing.
Sant Kabir Nagar SP Sandeep Meena said investigators found that the accused had allegedly collected nearly Rs.30 crore from multiple investors. The examination of bank records and electronic evidence revealed that the money was never invested in the stock market. Instead, payouts to earlier investors were allegedly made using funds collected from new investors, indicating a Ponzi or pyramid-style operation.
The probe also identified the involvement of four other associates besides the two main accused. Investigators found that investor funds had allegedly been diverted to purchase houses, plots and other immovable properties. htc...
