Police action at Jantar Mantar: City lawyers take out march
LUCKNOW, July 25 -- A group of advocates marched from Swasthya Bhawan Chauraha to Shaheed Smarak to protest the alleged police assault on demonstrators at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi over the alleged NEET paper leak.
The advocates sought accountability for the alle- ged use of force and expre- ssed solidarity with the protesters.
The demonstration, however, had a relatively low turnout of advocates.
They alleged that repeated examination paper leaks were jeopardising the future of students and demanded the resignation of the Union education minister.
They also alleged that police used excessive force against protesters and claimed the government failed to take cognisance of the incident.
"It is not a matter that should be politicised. The issue is serious and concerns the future of the younger generation. Students spend years preparing for competi- tive examinations but ultimately bear the consequences. Today's protest was for this cause," said Jeetu Yadav, general secretary, Lucknow Bar Association....
