India, Sept. 25 -- PRAYAGRAJ Scrap and discarded materials will soon be transformed into attractive installations as the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) plans to beautify 30 road intersections and nearly 100 small and big public parks under its 'Waste to Best' initiative. Instead of letting discarded items accumulate as waste, the civic body will creatively reuse materials such as old tyres, plastic and iron scrap to develop decorative installations at parks, intersections and other public spaces. The initiative will combine waste management, cleanliness, beautification and environmental conservation. Plantation drives will also be undertaken around the installations to develop green zones and increase greenery across the city. An example of the initiative is already taking shape at Loha Park in Bharadwajpuram, Allapur, where discarded materials are being used to create attractive designs. Similar theme-based installations will also be developed at other locations based on the available space and local requirements. Officials expect the revamped spaces to emerge as new attractions, particularly for children and local residents. PMC junior engineer Ram Saxena said the 'Waste to Best' concept is intended to increase public awareness about the effective reuse of waste. He said public spaces would be given a fresh look by combining creativity, environmental conservation and cleanliness. Chief engineer Dinesh Chandra Sachan said repurposing discarded materials would also facilitate easier waste disposal. "The initiative will not only enhance the appearance of parks by creating an attractive ambience but also help in the disposal of waste. It will also give the city a facelift ahead of the forthcoming Magh Mela 2027," he added....
