LUCKNOW, July 4 -- A public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court in connection with the alleged embezzlement of donation money at Ayodhya's Ram temple is likely to be heard on July 6. The PIL seeking a CBI inquiry and a CAG audit was filed by Mohit Ashok, a local advocate, on June 12 but it could not be heard during the summer vacation due to a lack of time. It is now listed before the division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjive Shukla on July 6. The petitioner's lawyer said that in view of the seriousness of the matter, he will request the court for an early hearing on Monday. The PIL urges the court to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe the matter and register a case. It also requests that the Comptroller and Auditor General audit the cash, gold, silver and other valuables received as offerings in donation boxes at the temple. The petitioner has made the Centre, the principal secretary of the state government's vigilance department, the CBI director, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, through its chairperson, opposite parties.
