LUCKNOW, Sept. 26 -- Pharmacists play a key role in preventing drug interactions, determining dosages and ensuring the safe and rational use of medicines, said Dr GP Gupta, additional director (Health), Lucknow Division, at a World Pharmacists Day (September 25) seminar on Thursday. The seminar, organised by the Pharmacist Federation, was based on the theme "Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures." Gupta, who is also director of Civil hospital said pharmacovigilance and medication safety were among the pharmacists' key technical responsibilities, stated a press release shared with the media. Federation president Sunil Yadav said pharmacists' role goes beyond dispensing medicines to include drug-quality checks, patient counselling, pharmacovigilance and managing drug interactions.
