PGI launches green mobility initiative to promote sustainable transport
LUCKNOW, May 17 -- Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) on Saturday launched a green mobility initiative aimed at reducing fuel consumption and promoting sustainable transportation within its campus.
As part of the campaign, the institute organised a symbolic cyclothon to encourage faculty members, staff and students. Director RK Dhiman, CMS Devendra Gupta, Dean Shaleen Kumar, senior faculty members, heads of departments, officers and technical staff participated in the event.
Director Dhiman said the initiative aligns with appeals made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath urging citizens to use petroleum products responsibly and reduce unnecessary fuel consumption in view of international energy uncertainties.
The institute added that public transport and non-motorised mobility options should be preferred wherever possible as part of broader efforts towards environmental sustainability and energy conservation....
