PRAYAGRAJ, July 23 -- Tension prevailed at a petrol pump near Vikas Bhawan on the Katra-Medniganj road in Pratapgarh on Wednesday morning after customers alleged that fuel mixed with water was dispensed into their vehicles. The incident triggered protests by motorists, leading to a scuffle at the fuel station and prompting intervention by police and district supply authorities. According to officials, several motorcycles began malfunctioning and stalled within 50 to 100 metres of leaving the petrol pump after refuelling around 10am. A salesman identified as Rambahal was reportedly injured after being assaulted by the crowd. Assistant rationing officer Pankaj Singh of the district supply department visited the fuel station. A sample of the fuel was examined and reportedly found to contain water. The ARO ordered an immediate suspension of fuel sales at the outlet until further instructions. htc...
