Petrol, diesel prices hiked by Rs.3; CNG costlier by Rs.2
Lucknow, May 16 -- Fuel prices witnessed a steep overnight rise across Uttar Pradesh on Friday, pushing petrol rates in Lucknow close to the Rs.100-per-litre mark. The hike has affected petrol, diesel, premium fuel variants, and CNG.
According to revised retail selling prices issued by oil marketing companies, petrol in Lucknow climbed from Rs.94.69 per litre on May 14 to Rs.97.55 per litre on May 15, registering a sharp increase of Rs.2.86 per litre. Diesel prices also surged from Rs.87.81 to Rs.90.82 per litre, marking a rise of Rs.3.01 per litre in a single day.
Premium fuel categories recorded similar hikes. XP95 petrol increased from Rs.103.14 to Rs.106.13 per litre, while XG Diesel prices rose from Rs.93.42 to Rs.96.43 per litre.
Alongside petrol and diesel, CNG prices saw an increase of Rs 2. In Lucknow and Agra, CNG is currently being sold at Rs.98 per kg, while consumers in Unnao, Ayodhya, and Sultanpur are paying Rs.96.25 per kg.
State head and executive director, IOC, Sanjay Bhandari clarified that there is no shortage of fuel supply in Uttar Pradesh. According to data shared by public sector oil marketing companies, available stock at depots, terminals, and petrol pumps across the state currently stands at 238 TKL of petrol (MS) and 516 TKL of diesel (HSD).
Officials stated that the present reserves are sufficient to maintain nearly 15 days of uninterrupted fuel supply in the state. They also assured that replenishment from refineries is taking place regularly to avoid any disruption in availability.Despite the assurance, long queues were reported at some fuel stations in parts of Lucknow as consumers rushed to refill vehicles amid fears of further price hikes in the coming days. htc...
