Dehradun, Sept. 22 -- The body of a 26-year-old woman from Punjab who went missing after falling into a gorge along the Chopta-Tungnath trekking route in Rudraprayag district on Sunday was recovered from a 400-metre-deep gorge on Monday, officials said. The deceased was identified as Pooja Sahni, 26, a resident of Punjab, they said. Officials said an SDRF team led by assistant sub-inspector Prem Prakash was dispatched from the Agastyamuni post to the site where the incident was reported after the Rudraprayag disaster control room received a tip-off. The team conducted a search near Tungnath temple during the night but had to suspend the operation due to darkness, they added. The search resumed on Monday morning. While searching downhill from Ravan Shila, the SDRF team located and recovered the woman's body from the gorge, said officials. The team, coordinating with the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF) and local police, retrieved the body from the gorge and carried it on a stretcher for around 3 km to Chopta, they added.
