Gorakhpur, Sept. 12 -- Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Friday predicted a comfortable BJP victory in the 2027 Assembly elections, saying the party was in a strong position to return to power for a third consecutive term. Speaking to the media after attending a memorial programme in Deoria to pay tribute to the parents of agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Pathak attacked the Samajwadi Party and Congress, accusing them of being focused on capturing power while ignoring Indian cultural values. Addressing a gathering in Kasya (Deoria), he highlighted the BJP government's law-and-order record, saying criminals and mafias who once operated freely were now being kept under control. Pathak also claimed Uttar Pradesh had become a "revenue-plus state" over the past nine years, He said power supply had improved across districts and road connectivity had cut travel time between Deoria and Lucknow from around eight hours to nearly five.
