NEW DELHI, Dec. 18 -- A parliamentary panel on transport, tourism and culture on Wednesday sought accountability for the flight cancellations and delays that hit IndiGo airline in November and December causing severe disruption in air travel. According to people aware of the details, the panel chaired by JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha, questioned both the airline as well as the ministry of civil aviation for the delays that put travellers in distress. "The airline was asked why it did not take immediate action when they saw it coming and why was the ministry not made aware of the consequences of the delay. The ministry officials were also pulled up for stating that they heard about the cancellations and delays from the media." said the person. A second person said: "IndiGo said there were many factors beyond their control while the ministry maintained that it could not handle the situation that spiralled out of control."...
