Pakistani national arrested in Bulandshahr with forged papers
Meerut, April 25 -- The Bulandshahr police have arrested a Pakistani national who had allegedly been living in the district by concealing his identity and using forged documents. The accused, identified as Syed Wasit Ali, was residing in the Sushila Vihar locality.
Police recovered a forged Aadhaar card, a fake driving licence, and a photocopy of a Pakistani passport from his possession. According to City Kotwali in-charge Dharmendra Rathore, a police team led by sub-Inspector Mohit Kumar was on late-night patrol when they received a tip-off about a Pakistani national illegally staying in the area.
Acting on the information, the police set up a cordon and apprehended the suspect near the railway line. During questioning, he was identified as Syed Wasit Ali, son of Syed Laiq Ahmed, originally a resident of Karachi. The documents recovered from him carried a Bulandshahr address, but he admitted to being a Pakistani citizen. The photocopy of his passport further confirmed his origin. He claimed to be 45 years of age.
During interrogation, Wasit revealed that he had been unable to secure a long-term visa to stay in India. As a result, he resorted to obtaining a forged Aadhaar and driving licence to continue living in the country illegally. He also disclosed that his mother, Bilkis, had divorced her first husband in Karachi and later married a resident of the Sainthala area in Bulandshahr. Wasit had come to India along with his mother and three sisters. While two of his sisters were granted long-term visas, his application remained pending for years.
Further investigation revealed that Wasit had a prior criminal record. In 2012, he was arrested by the Brahmpuri police station in Meerut under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946, and was subsequently sent to jail. Officials believe that this record played a key role in the rejection of his visa application, pushing him to rely on forged documents.
Police have registered a case against the accused and initiated a deeper investigation to uncover the network behind the preparation of fake documents....
