Mussoorie, Sept. 10 -- Scattered overnight rainfall lashed parts of the state in the 24 hours until 8.30am on Wednesday, officials said, adding that over 70 roads were blocked by landslides and rockfalls induced by rainfall throughout the day. The state recorded only 1.2 mm of average rainfall in the 24 hours till 8.30 am on Wednesday, below the normal 6.1 mm. Chamoli and Pithoragarh reported 17 and 10 roads blocked respectively. In Pithoragarh, stretches of the Pithoragarh-Chandak-Bash-Aawlaghat route and rural corridors including Dyora-Barmau and Tanakpur-Tawaghat-Rathi were closed. Debris clearance was underway on the Thal-Munsyari-Khatera, Bageeha-Siniyakhola, Fultari-Rojibunga and Sosa-Sirdang-Sirkha stretches. Officials said restoration could take over a day. On Tuesday, after an inspection by district magistrate Apporva Pandey and her directions, teams of the Border Roads Organisation reopened National Highway 109K near Rawaikhal by late evening. In Dehradun, 14 village routes remained closed. Nainital reported nine blocked roads, while Almora reported eight. Pauri had seven, Tehri Garhwal four and Uttarkashi five. The IMD has issued a yellow alert from September 10 to 13, forecasting isolated heavy rain in Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh on Thursday. Rain is expected to intensify on Friday, while isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Dehradun, Bageshwar and Uttarkashi on Saturday, accompanied by thunderstorms....
