Over 2,000 vehicles challaned in city's second day traffic crackdown
LUCKNOW, April 6 -- Police here on Sunday pressed ahead with its enforcement drive against vehicles without number plates, racking up over 2,000 traffic violations across all five zones in a second consecutive day operation.
The three-hour drive, conducted between 3 pm and 6 pm, covered major intersections, busy stretches, Hazratganj, Kaiserbagh, Kamta, Polytechnic Crossing, Vrindavan Yojana, and other key junctions. Teams led by DCPs and ACPs set up checkpoints under the direction of police commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar.
Inspections of 6,408 vehicles resulted scores of challans for violations including absence of number plates, invalid documents, overspeeding, and other traffic rule breaches. Police seized 218 vehicles. West Zone recorded the highest challans at 574, followed by North (448), East (413), South (284), and Central (228). For seizures, Central and North zones topped the list with 53 each, followed by West (51), South (41), and East (20).
