Bhubaneswar, Sept. 10 -- The Odisha Police Crime Branch's Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday began probing how five orangutans, which are not native to the state, reached a reserve forest in Balasore, with investigators examining a possible sea route and the movements of vessels along the Odisha-West Bengal coast, officials aware of the matter said. The probe comes a day after the five orangutans were rescued from a casuarina forest in Ranakatha Protected Reserve Forest during patrolling by Balasore Wildlife Division officials. STF officials reached Bhograi on Wednesday and examined CCTV footage, mobile phone data and vessel movements. "The team also travelled to Digha in neighbouring West Bengal and examined footage from the Marine Police Station. Officials are gathering details of waterways linked to Digha, as well as trawlers and other vessels operating from the Digha estuary and fishing harbour," said DIG Kanwar Vishal Singh....
