LUCKNOW, April 2 -- The Lucknow Odia Samaj celebrated Odisha Day at the Visvesvaraya auditorium of the Public Works Department on Wednesday, with noted feminist writer and Sarala Award and Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award recipient Sarojini Sahoo as chief guest. The event marked the birth centenary of Padma Bhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Samaj president Gopabandhu Patnaik recalled the maestro's 2004 visit to Lucknow, when he was honoured as 'Nritya Bhagavan', just days before his passing. In her keynote, Sahoo spoke on Jagannath culture, noting how Lord Jagannath reflects human life while remaining transcendent, embodying Odia identity.
