OBC panel orders report on hurdles in issuance of caste certificates
LUCKNOW, Aug. 30 -- Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Backward Classes chairman Rajesh Varma on Friday heard 30 cases and issued directions to the departments concerned, including sending a detailed report to the state government on difficulties in issuing OBC certificates.
During the proceedings at the panel's office, Varma discussed the validity and issuance process of caste certificates with the special secretary of the personnel department and decided to send a comprehensive report to the government.
The Commission expressed displeasure over the absence of cooperative department officials in cases concerning retirement benefits of Ramesh Singh and Dinesh Kumar, directing that a letter be sent to the principal secretary. Taking up the case of illegal occupation of Uma Devi's land in Sitapur district, the Commission criticised the negligence of the Sidhauli SDM and said the matter would be reported to the appointment department.
The panel also expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of urban development department officials in the case of non-payment of retirement benefits to the husband of Sudha Singh, a resident of Lucknow, and directed prompt resolution.
Varma emphasised that officials must show sensitivity and ensure timely payment to complainants in line with the government's intent. He warned that absence of competent officials in future hearings would invite action, with reports sent to the government....
