Nurses Day Week: SGPGI webinar focuses on better patient care, safety
Lucknow, May 11 -- The Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) organised an international nursing webinar as part of the International Nurses Day Week celebrations, aimed at strengthening patient care standards and public healthcare delivery. Held on Sunday, the event gathered around 200 participants and healthcare experts from India and the UAE to discuss evidence-based nursing practices.
The webinar focused on how scientific nursing practices, infection prevention strategies, critical care management, and research-based treatment methods can improve patient safety, reduce complications, and enhance the quality of hospital services.
Speakers emphasised that nurses form the backbone of hospital care, and empowering them with updated scientific knowledge translates directly into safer treatment, faster recovery, and improved patient experience. Key sessions addressed critical public health issues, including infection control in labour rooms and operation theatres, neonatal care, patient safety protocols, and preventing hospital-acquired infections. International speaker Sharon Sheeba Thambithurai from the UAE stressed the importance of specialised nursing in intensive care units.
Professor Balamoni Bose from LLRM Meerut highlighted that evidence-based nursing practices significantly reduce medical errors, while SGPGIMS faculty member Sabana Khatun spoke on translating medical research into practical bedside care. HTC...
