Now, I know why Sarnath is so special: Akhilendra Mishra
India, Aug. 28 -- Actor Akhilendra Mishra loves combining his shoot trips with traveling and exploring nearby locations. During his visit to Lucknow and the surrounding areas, the actor traveled to Ayodhya, Varanasi, Sarnath, and Mirzapur to make the most of his time.
The actor, known for Lagaan (2001), Sarfarosh (1999), and Ready (2011), says, "It has become a routine for me to travel around the cities where I shoot to explore their historic monuments, scenic locations, local cuisine, and religious sites, and to meet the locals. Before I go for a shoot, I prepare a road map of places I can visit."
The 62-year-old actor says it relates to his craft as well: "For any actor, the more you connect and engage with society, the more 'content' you gain, which can be replicated in your performances. Centuries ago, in the Natyashastra, Bharat Muni stated that one should go to the lok (people and society). Classic and modern theatre legends have said the same; it helps in my roles."
He explored the temples and ghats of Varanasi and also visited the Ma Vindhyavasini Temple in Mirzapur and Chunar. "My Sarnath experience was special. It holds UNESCO heritage significance, and seeing it from that perspective, I understood why it's so important to us. I also went to the museum where the Ashok Laat is housed, from which our National Emblem (the lions) and the Chakra in the National Flag were derived. I also make videos and share them with my followers so that people can learn about it."
On his extended visits to Lucknow and Ayodhya, he says, "For the first time, I explored the Ambedkar Memorial, and a visit to Hanuman Setu was a must. I also decided to seek blessings at the Chandrika Devi temple and finally made my way to the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which I had previously visited while it was under construction. I was amazed to see how grand it has become. Just one word: Adbhut."
The actor recently shot for Anurudh Dave's production Babu Weds Baby, alongside Kapil Kanpuriya and Harshita Bhatt....
