Notices served on 39 illegal constructions in Bareilly
Meerut, Oct. 11 -- Bareilly Municipal Corporation has launched a major anti-encroachment drive as it prepares to demolish unauthorised constructions in several areas of the city. On Thursday, civic teams identified illegal structures in Maheshpur Ataria, Delapeer, and Kohadapeer and served demolition notices on 39 houses and shops allegedly built on encroached public land.
According to officials, the encroachers have been given a 15-day window to remove the illegal structures voluntarily. The sudden momentum in this long-pending matter is being widely linked to the recent unrest that rocked the city, though the civic body has officially denied any such connection.
In Kohadapeer alone, 27 illegal constructions have been marked; seven in Delapeer and five in Maheshpur Ataria. The issue first gained attention when councillor Shalini Johri raised the matter of land encroachment near the Shahbad Primary School in Ward 54, Bhud, during a municipal meeting.
