No one should be able to exploit issues like hijab: Maya
Lucknow, Aug. 27 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has said that issues like hijab should be resolved at the local level through mutual understanding between the school management and the administration.
No one should get an opportunity to exploit such issues for narrow political gains, she said.
In a post on X the BSP chief said, the Constitution grants egalitarian rights to all-humanitarians, welfare-oriented individuals and followers of every caste and religion.
It has united the entire nation into a single bond guaranteeing the creation of a strong India. Rather than ignoring this right or interfering in it, all should respect its sanctity, she said.
The matters such as women's dignity, honour, veil and protecting their self-respect and pride should be viewed with the same sensitivity.
As for the issue of wearing uniforms, veils, headscarves, hijabs in schools should be resolved with mutual understanding rather than exaggerating these matters and turning them into legal disputes in courts, she said. htc...
